To assist with living expenses, households in a UK region are receiving £70 supermarket vouchers.
This initiative is part of the Household Support Fund, led by Wakefield Council. The fund, tailored by each council, offers various aids such as energy support, supermarket vouchers, and cash grants.
The council is distributing these vouchers to low-income households already receiving council tax assistance. Pensioners who benefit from Council Tax Support have received a £70 voucher in November, with more vouchers scheduled for other eligible households.
Starting December 15, families receiving Council Tax Support will be granted a £50 voucher. Between December 3 and December 12, other households receiving Council Tax Support will receive a £70 voucher.
Eligible recipients will automatically receive the vouchers without the need for application, within 14 days of the specified dates. The council warns residents to be cautious of potential scams.

The council emphasized, “Beware of fraudulent communications claiming you are eligible for a Household Support Fund payment. These vouchers are solely distributed via letter, and bank details are not required. Wakefield Council will never solicit your bank information via text or email.”
For non-Wakefield residents, it is advisable to inquire about similar support schemes offered by your local council under the Household Support Fund.
For instance, Blackpool Council is offering £200 in energy support to qualifying households with one or two occupants, including children. Larger households with three or more members, including children, are eligible for £300.
