“Tesco to Give Away Wonky Christmas Trees on Dec. 6”

Tesco is set to distribute numerous complimentary Christmas trees for just one day.

These “wonky” Christmas trees, typically not suitable for sale due to imperfections like uneven branches or slight tilts, will be given away at select Tesco stores on Saturday, December 6. Recipients are encouraged to donate to the food charities Fareshare and Trussell.

The free trees will be available at various Tesco locations, including Colney Hatch Extra, Borehamwood Extra, Hammersmith, Southport Extra, Goole Superstore, Glossop Superstore, Bristol Brislington Extra, Cardiff Extra, Dundee Riverside Extra, and Glasgow Maryhill Extra.

Starting at 10 am, the trees will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, limited to one tree per household. In comparison, other retailers sell Christmas trees starting from £13.99 at Aldi and £14.99 at Home Bargains.

Ashwin Prasad, Tesco’s UK CEO, expressed, “We want people to embrace the imperfect moments of Christmas, including these slightly wonky trees, which can still bring charm to any home with a touch of love and strategic ornament placement.”

A recent Tesco survey revealed that nearly a quarter of Brits plan to decorate their trees on the second weekend of December. Despite this, 87% of respondents believe Christmas does not have to be flawless to be special, with 74% stating that imperfections make the season feel more festive.

The survey conducted by Censuswide spanned 2,000 UK adults between August 22 and 28 and December 1 and 2.

Additionally, Tesco announced a promotion where Clubcard members earn two points for every £1 spent on gift cards throughout December, applicable to all third-party gift cards purchased at Tesco stores. This offer extends to various Tesco products and services, with points automatically credited to Clubcard accounts.

With approximately 24 million Clubcard members, Tesco rewards loyalty by offering points for purchases on groceries, fuel, Tesco Mobile, Tesco credit card transactions, and Tesco Clubcard Pay+ debit card usage. Members can redeem 150 points for a £1.50 Clubcard voucher usable at Tesco stores.
