“Sky Shifts Focus to Internet-Based Products, Introducing Sky Stream and Sky Glass”

Sky Q, a highly acclaimed set-top box, is renowned for its exceptional features, which include live TV recording, access to premium channels, and popular streaming apps like Disney+ and Netflix. Despite its widespread popularity, Sky is shifting focus towards internet-based products such as the Sky Stream box and Sky Glass TV, signaling a transition away from its traditional satellite-powered platform. This shift may pave the way for new competitors in the market.

Humax has introduced the Aura EZ 4K TV Recorder, a device that closely resembles the key functionalities of the Sky Q box. Similar to Sky’s flagship product, the Aura EZ comes equipped with a built-in 2TB hard drive for storing a vast amount of TV content, movies, and sports events. Given the decreasing availability of physical recording options, the inclusion of internal storage in this new device is a significant development.

Moreover, the Aura EZ is integrated with Freely, allowing users to watch live TV over broadband. Powered by the creators of Freeview, Freely offers access to over 60 live channels and a wide array of on-demand programs. This feature enables easy portability of the box between rooms, simplifies installation, and ensures regular updates for enhanced functionality.

Noteworthy features of the Aura EZ include 4K HDR picture quality, Dolby Digital Plus audio, and a user-friendly integrated TV guide displaying current and upcoming programs. Users can conveniently manage the box remotely through the Humax Aura EZ smartphone app, enabling schedule browsing and recording management from any location.

While Freely lacks the premium sports and movie offerings of Sky, it stands out for its free usage with no subscription fees required.

The Humax Aura EZ is scheduled for launch in the UK in February 2026, priced at £249.

In a related development, Sky has announced a new subscription bundle that combines major streaming services at a discounted monthly rate. Priced at £24 per month, customers will gain access to Disney+, Netflix, Hayu, and the upcoming HBO Max service. Sky emphasizes the value of this bundle, consolidating various streaming platforms under a single subscription. Subscribers to the Ultimate TV plan will also enjoy over 130 premium channels, including Sky Comedy, Sky Documentaries, Sky Crime, and Sky History.

Furthermore, Sky Cinema customers will benefit from a new Disney movie channel directly integrated into the TV guide.

The £24 bundle includes:
– Netflix Standard with Ads
– Disney+ Standard with Ads (effective from March)
– HBO Max Basic with Ads (starting March 26)
– Hayu (available from July, with select content accessible from March)
– Over 130 Sky channels

These updates reflect a shift in the TV and streaming landscape, introducing new choices and enhanced viewing experiences for consumers.
