Richard Madeley Wins £10,000 on Celebrity Catchphrase

Former This Morning star Richard Madeley impressed audiences by winning £10,000 on Celebrity Catchphrase in the nick of time. Teaming up with host Stephen Mulhern, comedian Axel Black, and radio personality Sian Welby, Richard competed in a charity special episode.

After surpassing Axel and Sian, Richard faced the final round where he had 60 seconds to decipher famous sayings. Progressing through the levels, he successfully accumulated £2,500 and £5,000 before reaching the challenging box number 11.

With only five seconds remaining, answering correctly on box 11 would not only boost Richard’s earnings to £10,000 but also double Axel and Sian’s previous winnings. Opting for box 11, Richard decoded the phrase “Few and far between” in the last second, securing his total at £17,400.

Following the rules, Axel and Sian also had their rewards doubled, with Axel receiving £800 and Sian taking home £6,000. In total, the charity fundraiser amassed £24,200.

Richard Madeley initially gained recognition on BBC Radio Carlisle at 19, later transitioning to Granada Reports where he met his wife Judy Finnigan. Together, they hosted This Morning from 1988 to 2001 before moving to Channel 4 for their show Richard & Judy, which concluded in 2009. Presently, Richard occasionally fills in as a host on Good Morning Britain.

Recently, during a segment on speeding offenses, Richard disclosed that he had accumulated six points on his license for unintentionally exceeding speed limits on two occasions.
