“Norris and Piastri Disqualified at Las Vegas Grand Prix”

Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri faced disqualification from the Las Vegas Grand Prix due to a technical breach. Post-race inspections revealed that the planks under the McLaren cars were below the required 9mm thickness, indicating an illegal ride height. Consequently, both drivers were excluded from the race results.

This development significantly impacts the championship standings, with Max Verstappen claiming victory in Las Vegas. The disqualification of Norris and Piastri now ties Verstappen with Piastri in points, trailing Norris by 24 points with two races left.

Following the race, both McLaren drivers were called before stewards for a hearing that lasted over an hour, delaying the final decision until the early hours of the morning. Norris, who initially finished second after starting from pole position, lost ground to Verstappen and George Russell due to an aggressive move at the first corner.

Despite his efforts to regain positions, Norris could not catch Verstappen. Prior to the disqualification, Norris expressed disappointment with his race performance, acknowledging the superior pace of the Red Bull team. Looking ahead, he aims to bounce back in the upcoming races after enjoying a brief break.
