A man was found guilty of harassing his neighbor over a span of seven months by repeatedly labeling him as a “paedo,” as per court records. Marek Powalski was reported to have captured his neighbor installing security cameras, made offensive gestures at the camera, and engaged in disputes over parking. The 52-year-old, who has relocated since, had been experiencing ongoing conflicts with neighbors for several years, according to the North Staffordshire Justice Centre.
Powalski, residing on Joyce Avenue in Bradeley, Stoke-on-Trent, admitted to the charge of harassment without violence occurring between September 23, 2024, and April 26, 2025. He was fined £120 and instructed to pay £85 in fees and a £48 surcharge, as reported by StokeonTrentLive.
During the court proceedings, Prosecutor Suzanne Swindail detailed the allegations, citing instances where Powalski insulted his neighbor by using derogatory terms and engaged in confrontational behavior, such as filming the installation of CCTV cameras and getting into verbal altercations over parking issues.
In a statement provided by the victim, it was expressed that the continuous harassment had instilled fear, affecting their daily routines and mental well-being. The neighbor’s spouse mentioned the detrimental impact on her mental health, causing her to feel unsafe leaving their residence.
In defense of Powalski, Simon Leech stated that the defendant had relocated and no longer resided in close proximity to the complainant. Leech highlighted the history of conflicts, attributing the situation to escalated tensions and eventual decision to sell their home due to the mounting pressure and distress caused by the ongoing issues.
