After exchanging vows, a couple’s post-wedding bliss turned tragic during their honeymoon. Jordan Linn Graham and Cody Johnson, newlyweds of eight days, set out for a hike in a Montana national park on July 8, 2013. However, this excursion marked Johnson’s final adventure. Graham reported him missing the next day, claiming he had left for a drive with a friend after receiving a distressing phone call. Two days later, while hiking in Glacier Park, Graham allegedly discovered her husband’s lifeless body at a viewpoint known as the Loop.
Initially, suspicions arose about the circumstances of Johnson’s death, especially as Graham later confessed to lying about the events. She admitted that during an argument, she pushed Johnson off a cliff edge after he grabbed her arm. Graham expressed regret, stating she had not intended for the push to be fatal.
Reports revealed Graham’s uncertainties about the marriage, with a friend mentioning her intentions to confront Johnson on the night of his death. Additionally, doubts were raised by Johnson’s friend, Cameron Frederickson, who had reservations about their relationship. Despite initially claiming Johnson’s death was accidental, Graham eventually pleaded guilty to second-degree murder during her trial. She was sentenced to 30 years in prison by US District Judge Donald Molloy, with no possibility of parole and five years of court supervision upon release.
