Heart 80s radio presenter Simon Beale recently shared his harrowing experience of undergoing emergency surgery following a heart attack. Despite being in good health, the 53-year-old initially dismissed the symptoms as not indicative of a heart attack.
Simon, known for hosting the morning show on Heart 80s, posted a monochromatic image of himself connected to medical equipment while in a hospital bed on Instagram. Recounting the incident, he disclosed that the heart attack occurred while he was out walking his dog three weeks ago. Even during the episode, he tried to convince himself that it couldn’t be a heart attack.
Despite maintaining a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise and a balanced diet, Simon acknowledged the unmistakable chest pain and promptly dialed emergency services. Within hours, he underwent surgery to insert two stents in his blocked main artery, swiftly transitioning from a normal day to a critical medical situation.
Expressing gratitude for the support he received, Simon praised the NHS for their exceptional care during his eight-day hospital stay. He highlighted the kindness of his family, friends, and colleagues at Heart & Global for their unwavering support during his recovery journey.
As he continues to recuperate at home, Simon emphasized the importance of following medical advice, adhering to prescribed medications, and adjusting to a new dietary regimen. Despite the ordeal, he remains optimistic about returning to work soon, acknowledging the irony of his employment at a radio station given the circumstances.
