“Freely-powered Aero 4K Set-Top Box Gains Popularity”

Homes looking to access TV channels without a monthly subscription now have more choices available. Freely, introduced in 2024, initially provided live channel access via broadband on select new TVs. However, in the last 18 months, more TV brands like Hisense, Toshiba, and Sharp have adopted Freely. Previously, viewers had to buy a new TV from a tech store to use this platform.

Recently, Manhattan’s technology team unveiled a new Freely-powered set-top box called the Aero 4K, allowing access to over 60 live channels and on-demand content for free without a costly subscription. The Aero 4K also features voice search, viewing recommendations, a comprehensive TV guide, and the ability to pause live shows. Subscribers to services like Disney+ and Netflix can access these apps too.

Priced at £69.99, the Aero 4K has gained popularity. Currys in the UK was the first retailer to offer the Manhattan Aero 4K, which quickly sold out. Currys confirmed that the device will be restocked soon, and interested buyers can sign up on their website for alerts. Other retailers like Amazon and John Lewis are expected to start selling the device soon.

When back in stock, the Aero 4K will compete with devices such as Virgin’s Stream box and Sky Stream, eliminating the need for antennas or dishes by streaming content over the internet. Transitioning to streaming offers advantages like easier installation without requiring a technician’s visit and more frequent software updates.

With Freely’s user base surpassing one million, the TV landscape is evolving as more viewers abandon traditional methods in favor of streaming services.
