Ellen DeGeneres & Portia de Rossi’s England Escape

Ellen DeGeneres unveiled a rare peek into her personal life alongside her spouse, Portia de Rossi. The former 67-year-old talkshow host shared intimate snapshots on Instagram from their new residence situated in the Cotswolds, estimated to be valued at around £20 million. The couple made the move from the US to England following the 2020 presidential election after expressing their disappointment with the election results.

Among a group of celebrities, including Cardi B, Lili Reinhart, and Christina Applegate, who criticized supporters of Donald Trump before the election, Ellen and her 52-year-old wife voiced their desire to relocate for a fresh start in England. In the Instagram images, the couple appeared settled in their beautiful home, featuring an open-plan layout in the kitchen, dining area, and living room with floor-to-ceiling windows offering a view of the lush backyard.

Having tied the knot in 2008, Ellen and Portia reportedly underwent renovations on the property, incorporating an ivory and matte mocha latte beige color scheme. The decor exudes simplicity with a tiled dining table, leather chairs, a glass coffee table, and lounge chairs set on grey and ecru rugs. This modest design stands in stark contrast to the extravagant style of Mr. Trump, who had part of his US home demolished to build a lavish ballroom at the White House.

Throughout her more than four-decade career in the US, Ellen showcased her minimalist style, as seen in the Instagram video where she expressed joy over the presence of their dogs, Sport and Kid, playing in the house. The estate also houses horses, chickens, and sheep that roam the grounds, contributing to the peaceful ambiance of the Cotswolds, a favorite retreat for celebrities seeking a respite from city life.

Reflecting on their choice to settle in the countryside, Ellen mentioned the importance of accommodating Portia’s love for horses, emphasizing the need for a home with equestrian facilities and pastures. The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which aired on various NBC-owned stations until May 2022, received numerous accolades, including 63 Daytime Emmy Awards, with four for Outstanding Talk Show.
