In a few days, I will present my second Budget as the Chancellor. My focus will be on supporting working families by addressing NHS waiting lists, reducing national debt, and lowering the cost of living. These are not only national priorities but also my personal priorities as Chancellor.
One key aspect of the Budget will be tackling NHS waiting lists, fulfilling our commitment to revitalize the NHS, undo the austerity measures of past governments, and ensure patients receive timely treatment without prolonged waits.
Another critical goal is to decrease national debt, as allocating a significant portion of funds to debt interest payments hampers investments in essential sectors like education, healthcare, law enforcement, and local communities.
Addressing the cost of living is also crucial, given the financial strain it puts on households. Rising prices disproportionately affect ordinary families, highlighting the need for economic policies that benefit working individuals. The upcoming Budget will reflect our commitment to alleviating these pressures.
Recent initiatives, such as freezing prescription charges and rail fares, establishing breakfast clubs in schools, and combating ticket scalping, have already helped ease financial burdens for many. The Budget will further expand on these efforts to provide additional relief to the public.
Maintaining economic stability and prudent spending practices have enabled us to pursue measures that support families and enhance living standards. By eliminating wasteful spending and addressing fraud, we ensure that resources are allocated efficiently to benefit society, whether in asylum support, governance reforms, or welfare system integrity.
This Budget is designed to directly benefit you and your family, fostering a fairer, stronger, and more secure future for the nation.
