A significant bus accident caused extensive damage along a busy road, leading to significant traffic delays just before peak hours. Images captured at the site reveal police vehicles obstructing the westbound lanes of the A66 as emergency responders address the situation.
Reports suggest that three vehicles, including an Arriva bus, were part of the collision. Commuters faced a standstill on the A66 near the A19 junction in Middlesbrough as authorities and law enforcement manage the aftermath during the early evening rush.
Authorities and police officers are still present at the location as they work to clear the road. Despite the reopening of some lanes, motorists are advised to steer clear of the area due to persistent lengthy delays.
Fortunately, there have been no injuries or arrests reported so far. Cleveland Police disclosed that they received a call on Monday, October 20, about a crash involving a bus and a car on the A66.
The bus identified in the incident is believed to be an X12 Arriva service heading towards Durham. A spokesperson for Arriva acknowledged the collision but indicated that they are awaiting further details from the emergency services handling the matter.
