Denmark’s Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, expressed her frustration with receiving unsolicited beauty advice. Frederiksen, 48, shared on Instagram that upon returning from a trip to Ukraine where she faced air raid sirens amid the ongoing conflict, she received a message from a plastic surgeon offering to address a perceived flaw on her nose.
She revealed that she has received numerous messages critiquing her appearance over the years, focusing on her teeth, hair, and a supposed imperfection on her nose, with suggestions for Botox injections. Frederiksen posted a screenshot of the plastic surgeon’s offer without revealing his identity and responded by affirming her contentment with her body, stating, “I really don’t need a male plastic surgeon to have an opinion about it!”
As a Social Democrat and Denmark’s second female prime minister, Frederiksen is currently serving her third term, making her one of the longest-serving leaders in Europe. She has taken a firm stance against U.S. President Donald Trump’s interests in Greenland, a semiautonomous territory of the kingdom, and has shown support for Ukraine in its conflict against Russian aggression.
Emphasizing her confidence in her own appearance, Frederiksen urged others to engage in more meaningful conversations rather than focusing on superficial critiques. She expressed feeling “indignant” about the unsolicited beauty advice and sent a message of empathy to those who also face societal pressures regarding their physical appearance.
