David Malukas set the pace during the practice session at the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy held in Markham. Malukas clocked a time of 1:14.194 in the second practice session of the day, with qualifying scheduled for later in the evening. Following closely behind, Alex Palou recorded the second-fastest time at 1:14.560, while Dennis Hauger secured the third position with a time of 1:14.592 around the Markham downtown road course.
The first day of track sessions had to be canceled by organizers due to the incomplete state of the course, which had not yet undergone necessary safety inspections. This year, Markham is hosting the race for the first time after it was relocated from Toronto’s Exhibition Place, where it had been held since its inception in 1986.
Earlier in the day, Palou had topped the timings in the morning’s initial practice session, completing the circuit in 1:14.9915.
