Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg are facing assault charges following an incident that left a Winnipeg Sea Bears player with serious injuries earlier this month, according to authorities.
Teddy Allen was hospitalized after being attacked at the nightclub in the early hours of August 3, as reported by the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The security workers, aged 35, 37, and 58, were apprehended on Wednesday and charged with assault causing bodily harm. They have since been released on undertakings.
While the police did not disclose the specific nightclub, they indicated that it is located on Main Street, situated between Portage and William avenues. Allen has undergone medical evaluations, received a diagnosis, and is currently recuperating at home, as stated in a press release issued by the team.
Expressing dismay over the assault, Allen emphasized that such incidents should never occur to anyone under any circumstances. He affirmed his resilience, stating, “The thing about my life is that when I’ve been knocked down, I get back up, which is exactly what I’m going to do now.”
