A collision involving an overturned lorry caused significant traffic delays on the M25 in Surrey. The motorway was partially closed in the anti-clockwise direction between J10 (Cobham) and J9 (Leatherhead) due to the incident, with emergency services attending the scene to assist two male drivers. Traffic congestion extended up to eight miles to J11 (Chertsey), according to Inrix.
National Highways announced ongoing delays between J10 (Cobham) and J9 (Leatherhead) due to the collision, with normal traffic flow expected to resume by 11:30 pm. Despite the reopening of closed lanes, drivers were warned to anticipate up to an hour of delay as traffic congestion eased.
Following a seven-hour closure due to a major lorry crash, the section of the M25 in Surrey has been reopened between J10 (Wisley) and J9 (Leatherhead). However, drivers should still expect a 60-minute delay beyond the usual journey time as around six miles of congestion persists on the motorway.
A spokesperson for Surrey Police advised motorists to avoid the crash area, where a car and a lorry collided on the M25 anti-clockwise between Junctions 10 (Cobham) and 9 (Leatherhead). Both lanes remained closed for recovery operations, with delays of at least 60 minutes reported by National Highways.
South East Coast Ambulance Service treated two male drivers at the scene, following an RTC near Cobham on the M25. National Highways estimated a return to normal traffic conditions by 5:45 pm, following the lorry overturning incident.
Motorists were urged to plan ahead by National Highways, who provided a diversion route for the closed section between J10 (Cobham) and J9 (Leatherhead). Emergency services remained active at the site of the collision to manage the situation.
