Police have provided an update following an incident where a mother and her child were ejected from their vehicle during a crash. The infant is expected to recover fully after being rescued from under the overturned car in a dramatic operation on a busy highway. Law enforcement responded to the scene in the morning after receiving reports of the mother and child being thrown from the car during the accident.
A video released by the Fort Worth Police Department on social media shows an officer rushing to the overturned vehicle and searching for the child, while a distressed woman can be heard screaming for her baby in the background. The officer enlisted the help of other motorists who had stopped at the scene to assist in lifting the car.
“Let’s move the car from here,” the officer directed them, suspecting the child was trapped underneath, as per reports from the Mirror US. With continuous effort, the car was lifted enough for the officer to grab the child’s leg and pull them to safety. Initially unresponsive, the child showed signs of life as officers administered aid, eventually breathing and crying. Both the mother and child are expected to recover fully, according to authorities.
The police department emphasized the challenging situations officers encounter in the line of duty and commended their swift actions. Police Chief Eddie Garcia referred to the child as a “little angel” in a social media post, praising the officers for their bravery. The department expressed appreciation for the citizens who stopped to assist during the rescue operation, concluding with gratitude for the officers’ life-saving efforts at the scene.
