The team at BBC Breakfast is said to be upset over what they perceive as unequal treatment by network executives. This comes after Kaye Adams was suspended from her role at Radio Scotland due to allegations of bullying, while Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt, BBC Breakfast presenters, are still on air despite facing similar accusations under review.
Adams was taken off her BBC radio show following claims of bullying behavior towards colleagues. In contrast, Munchetty and Stayt are reportedly being investigated for the same issue but have not faced suspension.
BBC management is reportedly examining various complaints against Munchetty and Stayt, yet they have not taken action against them as they did with Adams.
A source mentioned that Adams’ suspension stirred controversy within the BBC, as the ongoing review of Munchetty and Stayt keeps uncovering new complaints, prolonging the process.
Allegations of bullying against Adams prompted her removal from BBC Radio Scotland pending an investigation. These complaints were reportedly submitted through the BBC’s Call It Out scheme.
The Call It Out initiative was established following a probe into former MasterChef hosts Gregg Wallace and John Torode for inappropriate conduct. As a result of upheld allegations, Wallace and Torode were replaced as presenters on MasterChef.
The same initiative that led to complaints at BBC Radio Scotland also unearthed issues within the BBC Breakfast team.
When asked about the situation involving Munchetty, Stayt, and Adams, a BBC spokesperson declined to comment on individual HR matters.
