“Girl’s Murder Trial: Father’s Death Adds to Tragedy”

The family of a schoolgirl who was brutally raped and murdered by a 27-year-old woman claims that the girl’s father passed away due to overwhelming grief following the tragic incident.

Shortly after being reported missing in October 2022, the lifeless body of 12-year-old Lola Daviet was discovered mutilated and placed in a plastic box outside the family’s residence in Paris.

Algerian-born Dahbia Benkired was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 30 years after being found guilty of the heinous crimes of raping, torturing, and murdering Lola. She became the first woman in French legal history to receive a whole-life sentence.

The court revealed that Benkired likely committed the atrocious act as retaliation against the girl’s mother for denying her access to the apartment complex.

A controversial situation arose in France upon Benkired’s arrest in October 2022, revealing her illegal overstay following a visa violation. Lola’s parents strongly condemned any political exploitation of their daughter’s name and tragedy.

Tragically, Lola’s father, Johan Daviet, passed away at the age of 49 in February the previous year. His wife Delphine recounted in court how he relapsed into alcoholism upon learning of their daughter’s fate, ultimately succumbing to his sorrow.

Before his death, Johan left a poignant letter at Benkired’s residence expressing his confusion and sorrow over the brutal events, longing to reunite with his beloved daughter.

During the trial, Lola’s brother, Thibault Daviet, spoke on behalf of the family, including his deceased father, urging for truth and justice to prevail.

Evidence presented in court included CCTV footage showing Benkired handling Lola’s body in a suitcase at a Paris bar soon after the murder. The victim was found with mysterious markings on her feet, 38 wounds on her back and neck, resulting in asphyxiation as the cause of death.

The court witnessed graphic images of Lola’s injuries, prompting emotional reactions from family members present. Lola had suffered severe physical trauma to her genital area, face, back, and head, indicating a brutal assault.

Details emerged that Lola was last seen entering the apartment building and interacting with Benkired before being taken inside, leading to her tragic fate. Benkired allegedly transported Lola’s body in a plastic container across Paris before abandoning it on the street.

At the trial’s commencement, Benkired sought forgiveness, acknowledging the horror of her actions and expressing remorse to Lola’s family. She received a life sentence without the possibility of early release.
