Three major high street banks, including Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland, all part of Lloyds Banking Group, have announced the closure of 71 branches next year due to the increasing trend of online banking. The closures were initially disclosed earlier this year and will affect 40 Lloyds branches, 14 Halifax locations, and 17 Bank of Scotland sites. Customers impacted by these closures have alternative options available.
Affected customers of Lloyds, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland can utilize branches across any of these banks for their everyday banking needs. Additionally, they can explore the possibility of using a “banking hub” located in shared public spaces on the high street for their banking requirements.
A spokesperson from Lloyds Banking Group noted the changing banking habits, with over 21 million customers opting for apps to manage their finances. The group aims to offer a variety of banking options, combining digital convenience with personalized services. In addition to the mobile app, customers can conduct their banking activities at any Lloyds, Halifax, or Bank of Scotland branch, utilize the Post Office, or access banking hubs. Cash deposits can also be made at over 30,000 PayPoint locations.
