A Government minister has stated that Prince Andrew’s recent loss of titles was justified. Sir Chris Bryant recounted an encounter where Andrew insisted on arriving by helicopter, contrary to the Queen’s usual mode of transportation. The minister highlighted public sentiment calling for the removal of Andrew’s titles due to his association with Jeffrey Epstein.
Sir Chris urged Andrew to address questions about his ties to Epstein in the United States. Buckingham Palace confirmed Andrew’s departure from Royal Lodge amid ongoing controversy. He will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.
The minister emphasized the need for Andrew to face accountability, citing Virginia Giuffre’s allegations of abuse of trust. Sir Chris suggested that Andrew, now considered an ordinary citizen, should cooperate if requested to answer inquiries in the US.
Despite Andrew’s denial of allegations, the Palace acknowledged “serious lapses of judgment” and announced his relocation to alternative accommodation. The decision to strip Andrew of his titles was deemed necessary despite his continued denial of the accusations.
