“Netflix Incompatibility Hits UK BT TV Users”

UK homes utilizing BT TV services are facing a significant change that will impact their ability to stream content online. The issue arises from certain BT TV set-top boxes losing compatibility with the widely popular Netflix application. This transition is due to Netflix upgrading its platform, rendering older hardware incompatible with the updated service.

Which BT TV devices will be affected by this change?

The following BT TV boxes are set to lose support for Netflix:

– TV Recordable Box (G4)

– TV Box (Z4)

BT provided an explanation stating, “Netflix is enhancing its app for an improved user experience, leading to incompatibility with these specific BT TV boxes.”

As reported by Cordbusters, this alteration will come into effect on March 4, 2026. After this date, users with the affected boxes will lose access to Netflix content like Drive to Survive, Stranger Things, Seven Dials, and Breaking Bad unless they upgrade to newer models.

BT assured customers that newer BT TV models will not be impacted by this Netflix limitation.

“The remainder of our EE TV Boxes, including the 4K Recordable Box (G5), will continue to support Netflix,” stated the company.

Furthermore, BT confirmed that customers’ Netflix subscriptions will not be affected by this change. “Your Netflix subscription will remain unaffected, and you can still stream content on supported devices.”

Users with the potentially affected boxes are advised to contact BT for guidance on upgrading to newer models.

It is important to note that Netflix will still be accessible through alternate devices such as smart TVs, Fire TV Sticks, gaming consoles, and Apple TV boxes.
