Jake Paul’s promotional company has issued a statement in response to allegations against his upcoming opponent, Gervonta Davis, of battery, false imprisonment, and kidnapping by an ex-girlfriend.
The two fighters are set to have an exhibition match in Miami on November 14, even though Davis competes in the lightweight division and Paul in the cruiserweight category. The fight will not impact their professional records, but a winner will be determined either by stoppage or by judges, including an AI official, if the bout goes the distance.
Calls to cancel the fight have arisen due to the accusations against Davis. Reports suggest that Paul has considered Ryan Garcia as a replacement for Davis, but Most Valuable Promotions, Paul’s promotional company, has not confirmed any decision.
In their statement, Most Valuable Promotions stated that they have launched an investigation into the civil lawsuit filed against Davis in Miami-Dade County on October 30, 2025. They emphasized their stance against violence and assured a thorough review process before making any decisions.
Davis has not responded to the allegations yet, but his trainer dismissed them as untrue. The lawsuit claims that Davis assaulted his ex-partner at her workplace and had threatened her previously. The ex-partner alleges multiple instances of physical assault and choking, seeking damages and a jury trial.
Ryan Garcia is now out of consideration for a fight with Paul, as promotional conflicts prevent the matchup. Paul may postpone his return to the ring to December and has been previously linked to heavyweight Anthony Joshua, although securing a deal on short notice seems unlikely.
