Max George from The Wanted has traveled halfway across the globe to meet up with his bandmate Siva Kaneswaran for their debut performance in the United States this week, just under a year after he underwent life-saving heart surgery. The 37-year-old Max had to undergo heart surgery in December 2024 after being rushed to the hospital due to circulation issues. Following his admission, surgeons implanted a pacemaker and discovered a heart block.
Subsequently, Max had to return to the hospital for a second procedure a few months later because the pacemaker was inserted too deeply and needed readjustment. In September, Max shared on his Instagram that he had visited the hospital again but remained optimistic about continuing his world tour.
Formerly part of The Wanted, Max has now commenced his world tour and flew to Las Vegas to join forces with Siva Kaneswaran for their joint performances as The Wanted 2.0 across multiple locations in the US. While the band had gone on hiatus in 2014, they reunited in 2021 for a charity event following Tom Parker’s terminal brain cancer diagnosis.
Although Tom passed away in 2022, the other two band members, Nathan Sykes and Jay McGuinness, have not yet joined Max and Siva in the US. Nonetheless, Max and Siva appeared to be enjoying themselves as they shared a photo outside the venue on Instagram. Earlier this year, Max recounted his health ordeal to The Sun, describing the severity of his condition and the challenges he faced during his hospitalization.
