A woman in Scotland has admitted to deceiving her family and friends by pretending a Reborn baby doll was her real newborn daughter. Kira Cousins, 22, shared a statement revealing the truth after it was discovered that the baby she claimed to have given birth to was actually a doll. The elaborate hoax involved sharing fake baby scans, hosting a gender reveal party, and accepting expensive gifts from loved ones, including a £1,000 pram.
Concerns were raised when Kira refused to let her family see the baby, leading to suspicions about the authenticity of the child. In a TikTok post, Kira explained that her mother discovered the truth when she found the doll in her room, prompting a confrontation with her family. Even the baby’s father and his family were unaware of the deception.
A friend of Kira, Neave McRobert, uncovered the ruse after noticing that all pictures and videos of the supposed baby had been deleted. She confronted the baby’s father, who confirmed that the baby was a doll. Kira even went as far as falsely claiming that the doll had died to maintain the illusion.
Another acquaintance described Kira as a habitual liar, recalling instances where her pregnancy appeared suspiciously fake. Despite initial doubts, many people were taken in by Kira’s elaborate charade, believing in the authenticity of the baby. Reborn dolls, like the one used by Kira, can be purchased for varying prices, ranging from £30 to £2,000.
