A female British tourist has reported being sexually assaulted by a hotel employee during her stay in Greece. The incident occurred on the Greek island of Kos around 7pm when the 45-year-old woman, who admitted to consuming alcohol, was allegedly attacked by a 42-year-old male of Nigerian descent in her hotel room.
Authorities in the popular resort island quickly launched a search for the suspect, who was later apprehended and is currently in custody pending a court appearance before the Kos District Court prosecutor. This incident follows a series of sexual assault allegations made by other tourists visiting Greece earlier this year.
In a separate case on the island of Rhodes, a tourist accused her masseuse of inappropriate behavior during a massage session at a hotel in Kremasti, leading her to file a lawsuit over the incident. Similarly, in July, a 16-year-old British girl claimed to have been raped in the sea in front of a crowded beach on Rhodes, with a 15-year-old boy from Belgium being arrested in connection with the incident.
The suspect in the latter case has been presented before the island’s Public Prosecutor, who has referred the matter to an investigating officer for further legal action. These incidents have raised concerns about the safety of tourists in Greece, particularly during the busy summer season.
