A 12-year-old girl was tragically subjected to a horrifying sequence of events involving rape, torture, and murder.
The victim, Lola Daviet, was discovered lifeless in a suitcase in Paris, leading to the subsequent arrest of Dahbia Benkired, who was then 24 years old. Following a prompt police investigation, Benkired, yesterday, made history in France by becoming the first woman to receive a life sentence without parole for her involvement in the gruesome crimes.
Court proceedings unveiled the chilling final moments of Lola’s life. The young girl, who enjoyed camping trips with her family, encountered Benkired, a homeless Algerian immigrant, outside her apartment building. Surveillance footage captured Benkired illicitly entering the building without an access card and lingering in the hallways.
The last recorded images show Lola noticing the stranger and seemingly following her down a corridor, marking the final moments she was seen alive. Three years later, Benkired recounted the subsequent events in court, confessing to luring Lola, restraining her, and ultimately ending her life.
Following a harrowing ordeal of rape and suffocation, Lola fell victim to violent acts of mutilation with a knife and scissors. Benkired callously left the young girl to perish, returning only briefly while playing music to drown out any sounds of struggle.
After concealing the body in a large suitcase, Benkired left her sister’s residence, captured on CCTV footage with suitcases used to prop open the building’s entrance. She then dragged the suitcase containing Lola’s body towards the exit, evading suspicion.
During the trial in Paris, Benkired was denounced by the victim’s family as a “monster devil” and was sentenced to life imprisonment for her monstrous deeds. Notably, other offenders serving similar sentences include Salah Abdeslam, a terrorist involved in the 2015 ISIS attacks in Paris that claimed numerous lives.
